From the Home Screen use: 1. Data File (database) > Create new data file
From the Menu use: File > New Data File
An eForms data file is a collection of the data for one or more companies in a file on your computer. Each data file can contain the data for numerous companies and you can create as many data files as you wish. To create a data file, use either of the options at the top of this page to open Windows File Explorer; then:
-
Select the folder in which you want to store the data file. You can select any local or network folder available to your computer. If a multi-user network version of eForms is being used, the data file is normally stored on a network drive so that it can be accessed by other users. For best performance, we recommend that data files be stored on local or network storage.
-
Enter a valid Windows filename. If you enter the extension, it must be T25N, which will be the default if no extension is entered. NOTE: We suggest that you do not use "2025" in the data file name. This is because the conversion utility that you’ll use next year to roll 2025 data forward into a 2026 will create a 2026 data file with the same name as the 2025 data file; using "2025" in the data file name could cause confusion when trying to locate a data file for a different year down the road.
-
Click Save to create the data file and exit the Create New data file dialog box. The new data file will be automatically opened and its name will appear in the title bar of your eForms window.
If you already have a data file open in eForms when creating a new data file, it will be closed before the new data file is created.
Once the data file has been created you must create a company in order before you can begin to enter slip data.
